Laurelhill Sports Zone has been opened to the public since November 2001. The facility is found adjacent to Laurelhill College, and is operated in partnership with Laurelhill Community College and Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council.

The complex is made up of a floodlit synthetic Astroturf pitch (sand dressed) suitable for football and field hockey and an eight room-changing pavilion. This facility complements the already impressive sporting provision in the area of Lisburn and Castlereagh.

Laurelhill Sports Zone provides a quality facility for use by Laurelhill Community College and other local schools from 9- 5 during the school term.

In the evenings and Saturday the facility is managed by Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council and is available to hire by local clubs and community groups for hockey and football matches, training, five-a-side or coaching sessions. Laurelhill Sports Zone has been chosen by the Irish Football Association as one of a small number of new Grassroots Development Centres. The IFA in partnership with Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council's Sports Development Unit, have appointed a football development officer based at the facility. The aim of the post is to promote girls' and boys' mini-soccer, football for people with disabilities, club development and coach training throughout the Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council area.
